Silver Dust - Rustic Cross #30 - Blue Pietersite
The stone in this cross is Blue Pietersite. Hold it up to the light to see the chatoyance shine a lighter blue than the rest of the stone. The cross is made of .999 Fine silver set on top of a .999 ring of silver. I include a ring of some type on each cross I make to symbolize unending love and light. The texturing on this cross is done with a fusing technique - I fused silver dust and bits to the hand cut cross. The silver dust, along with the naturally occuring patina gives texture and depth to the piece as a whole. It hangs from a 17" stainless steel chain.
About the stone: Pietersite is a trade name for a dark blue-grey breccia aggregate made up mainly of hawk's eye and tiger eye. It is a variety of chalcedony (itself a variety of quartz) with embedded fibers of amphibole minerals in varying degrees of alteration. The energies of Pietersite can stimulate healing in your body.
